The Blessing in Obedience

Deuteronomy 28:1 (NIV), If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.

There is a blessing in simply being obedient. When God gives you a Word, be obedient and act on it. You may not understand all of the details behind why, but trust God enough that He has your best interest at heart. He has a plan for you, fully intertwined with your obedience.

The longer you delay being obedient, the more traffic will increase on the highway to your destination. Just because you choose to delay does not mean everything else will stop or slow down. Recognize that the quicker you adapt to the plan, the more God can do to manifest His grace and favor in your situation. Today is the day to receive all that God has for you. There is no legitimate reason (excuse) to continually put off God, put off things you need to do, put off the blessing that is awaiting your obedience.

No one can force you to receive a blessing – and no one can override God when He holds it back because of your unwillingness and disobedience. If you understand His power, then allow nothing to hinder the flow of His Word that causes you to adjust your thinking and begin to align with God’s plan for you. You are a prime candidate for passing the test in the arena of obedience. Sign up today, and put yourself in position to receive the blessing.

Ready on the Bench

“You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him” Luke 12:40 (NIV).

On game day, a basketball team has key players that the coach and other players rely on. They are the starting five players.  These athletes have practiced usually more than the other players.  All week long, they have run the plays they will execute in the game to be certain of their success.

However, the most important players are the ones on the bench.  How can one say that?  They don’t start. They are most important because at any point, at any time, the coach may call them into the game and they must be ready. They have no idea when their time will come, but they have to be prepared at all times.

In short, you don’t know the specific hour that Jesus will come so you must be ready and prepared to receive Him.  Just like the player on the bench, you must live a life that anticipates Jesus’ coming every single day.  Prepare yourself by reading the Word of God and get understanding so that you know how to live according to His will.  Spend time in the presence of God to build a real and personable relationship with Him.  Allow the Holy Spirit to walk you through each and every day in the will of God and the wisdom of God so that whenever the Son of Man shows up, you are not left sitting on the bench.

Put on the New Man

“And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God’s image. [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness.”  Ephesians 4:24 (AMP)
When you wake up in the morning the first thing you do after washing up is put your clothes on. Have you ever had an experience where your clothes just came on you without you or someone else putting them on you? Of course not. Well, the same holds true with the new regenerated life and nature you received when you received Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior. You have to purposely put on your new nature by purposely living a life that glorifies God. This is done, by not responding or being motivated by your old sinful ways of living, habits, and ways that enslaved you once before Christ was the head of your life.
Do you find it difficult to walk in true holiness? Do old habits cause you to consistently stumble and fall spiritually? Today’s text reveals that as a believer you have already been recreated into God’s nature and image. It’s natural to live your life motivated by what’s comfortable and familiar, but you have to truly discipline yourself to put on the new man who lives after God.
As you begin your day, keep your mind focused on how God’s Word says you should live. Be a student of the Bible so you can have knowledge of how God has empowered you to live as one of His born-again children. That’s the only way to really know what your new nature truly looks like. Now is the time to put on the new man.
